Show your support for Catawba Science Center by "adopting" one of the animals participating in our Adopt an Animal program. When you purchase one of our Adopt an Animal plushies in the gift shop, your contribution provides funding for our animal care team to feed and take care of the animals here at Catawba Science Center!
Animal adoptions are offered year-round and make great gifts for kids, family, friends, co-workers and employees. Anyone can adopt, including individuals or groups. As a supporter of the Adopt an Animal program, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you are helping Catawba Science Center and making a contribution to the welfare of the many animals that live here.
Adoptions can be purchased IN PERSON by visiting one of our science shops in the Main Arts & Science building or in the Aquarium/Planetarium building. Be sure to ask for your Adopt an Animal sticker, animal specific photo fact card, and an official certificate of adoption!
Member discounts do not apply to animal adoption plushies. Keep your receipt of purchase to claim your donation on tax documents.
Click on an animal to learn more about them, and print out your own Animal Fact Card at home. Don't forget to ask for your official adoption certificate at the science gift shop!
All adopted animals remain in the care and custody of Catawba Science Center.
Because the animals are living creatures, they can become ill, die, be moved off exhibit or to other facilities. CSC retains the right to remove any animal from public display. If your adopted animal leaves CSC, dies or is moved off exhibit, your gift will still be used and appreciated for the remainder of your adoption year.

This place was great. We have kids from 8 to 1 and they all had a great time. What I really liked is most of the exhibits are hands on and that really kept them occupied.
What a wonderful place to visit! Great environment to learn and the staff is very helpful! Hickory is lucky to have great family education and entertainment.
Took the kiddos and they loved it. Employees were nice and helpful. If your looking for something to do with the kids give this place a shot.
Fabulous and I don’t often give praise. We took our grandson and were there for hours. He loved it and so did we.
We love the Science Center! I take my 2 and 4 year old boys weekly to play and enjoy the exhibits. The staff are wonderful and the classes offered are excellent! We are so blessed to have such an amazing resource in our area.
